You see, life in Singapore is not quite the same as the US or the Western World.

We do not have pensions. The social-security equivalent takes money from our income paychecks during employment and promises to take care of us when we are old. Reality has proven otherwise.

Those million dollar portfolios? My friends scrimped and saved 60% of their monthly salary over decades to get there.

It's not easy...
