When personalities collide

It takes a lot of [healthy] tension to get things done in the workplace.
Many hate it. I understand. We can avoid them during good days.
But good days are rare.
Others are comfortable dealing with issues as they arise. They seek the middle ground and move on. I call this domain empathy.
I am not in your role, but I seek to understand. You have your KPIs. I have mine. Let’s work together.
That is my baseline.
And that line was breached yesterday
It began with an internal escalation.
We conducted our usual Wednesday morning sales-team catchups. Prospect pipelines. New deal reviews. Last-mile deal closing. The standard rituals.
And we went from person to person.
Joe was cool. Ithipol was pleased. Dora was calm.
And Isabelle was visibly annoyed. I sensed it even before she opened her mouth. I was ready for it.
I thought I was.
But I wasn’t.
